A Poem by Ralph Hawkins

The pflight of a Poet (Four Chanson)

all year I’ve been writing a poem
dum dum and rains call etc
and no one reads it it
is buried under a tree five
ftweet from where a bird sang
his part out on the leafed through for

***

bees wake up in ones and twos and ones
I go to sleep in ytears
a boy goes to yawn
and bees emerge
the flowers are covered with ash and storm
boom craters like cells
calling cartels

***

I wrote my second poem of the year
was it worth it
some colours frosting
a life line in the shape of an isobar
I put a bird sang
but it died as it was trilling
shaping sides

***

and the boat sank
the one I kept afloat
with all the rich people
they had a song at number 1 for a long
as far as I can remember
they disinvited pick and choose anything

***
